The Languages Curriculum Area has been implemented at Harrisdale Primary School from the beginning of 2018. This is in alignment with the new Languages WA Curriculum and is taught from Years 3-6 once a week for 55 mins. French at Harrisdale PS is taught through a combination of innovative approaches alongside a broad range of communicative approaches.

Our French learning program is also delivered through the use of the latest technologies for languages education. Families are encouraged to support their children by the use of Seesaw at home in-between lessons where short video presentations are shared regularly to support the acquisition of French as a Second Language.

Our programs are inclusive and tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students. Whether a student needs additional support or is ready for more advanced challenges, we provide the appropriate resources and guidance to help them succeed.

We have a French Language Assistant who helps to bring authentic language experiences to the classroom, spark their curiosity, fosters a love for language and ensures students not only learn to understand and speak French, but also appreciate the rich cultural heritage associated with the language. Our vibrant French Club is also available once a week for students to explore the French culture.
