Music
All students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 attend weekly music lessons, during which they learn and apply a range of skills in engaging, practical activities, led by experienced specialist Music teaching staff.
At Harrisdale Primary School we endeavour to instil in our students a love for, and appreciation of, music as an art form. The music program is based on the WA Arts Curriculum and encompasses singing, playing, moving and composing in a variety of musical styles using instruments and digital technologies.
We offer selected students in year 5 and 6 positions in the IMSS (Instrumental Music School Services) program, with tuition offered in Clarinet, Flute, Classical Guitar and Brass. Our IMSS students perform lunchtime concerts periodically for their peers and celebrate their year of learning by performing in a formal Recital Evening in Term Four. All IMSS students are invited to participate in the Harrisdale Primary School Concert Band, who rehearse after school and perform in a number of school-based events.
Harrisdale Primary School hosts a senior choir for students in years 4, 5 and 6 who love to sing. This dedicated group of students rehearse after school and perform at many school and community-based events including the Heron Park Harmony Festival Stockland Harrisdale and the WA Massed Choir Festival at Perth Concert Hall.
